It helps you feel closer to what really matters: your health, your family, and your well-being thus, true Martial Arts is the one thing that develops your mind, body and spirit.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

Our Martial Arts program is truly a mixed Martial Arts program. We combine the tradition of Okinawa/ Japanese Karate with western boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Tactical Street Self-Defense.

The purpose of our mixed curriculum is to prepare you for all phases of combat and Self-Defense in realistic situations or competition. Hopefully, you will never need to fight. However, if you find yourself in a bad situation, shouldn't you know how to protect yourself and your loved ones? Self-Defense is not only about handling physical danger, At Mizudo, we teach a second form of self-defense as well: internal. Our students learn to spot danger and avoid dangerous people, places and activities. Learning to avoid the need for physical confrontation is perhaps as valuable as being able to fight your way out of danger if you are forced to.

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

At Mizudo Academy we teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a grappling art first popularized in America by the legendary Gracie family. BJJ concentrates on applying leverage and superior body positioning, to control and subdue a much larger and stronger attacker.

Once the attacker is subdued, you are able to finish them with strikes or finishing holds such as arm locks, chokes or foot locks. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is also the foundation of MMA fighting and is considered by most to be the most effective Martial Art today.

Kickboxing incorporates the most effective hand, knee, elbow, and foot techniques with an intense cardio workout. This method of defense enables you to protect yourself in stand-up confrontations before an attacker gets close enough to physically grab you.
